Giggle when you overhear a child say something funny in public. Giggle when you realize your airplane seat number is “3D.” Giggle when you notice the “heads on” shrimp are looking at you on the plate. Giggle at life’s little moments full of silliness, coincidence, or hilarity.

#96 – eat leftovers
Instead of throwing away food left over after a meal, wrap up and eat the leftovers later. You’ll save money in the long run, and reduce food waste. Make sure you properly reheat any leftovers that need to be warmed up. Using the appropriate reheating technique (on the stove, in the oven, in the microwave, etc) will ensure your meal is just as good (or better!) the second time around.
#95 – try trapeze
If you have the opportunity to try a trapeze class, do it! Hanging from a bar 20-30′ in the air, with a giant safety net below you, will give you a huge adrenaline rush. Try swinging by your arms. Try swinging by your legs. Somersault to dismount. If they allow it, even try doing a catch. It is exhilarating!
#94 – thank your servers
When you eat at a restaurant, thank the waitstaff. Repeatedly. Thank them when they take your order. When they bring you your water or napkins. When they bring you your food or drinks. When they ask if you need a refill or anything else. Saying “thank you” is common courtesy.
#93 – listen to records
There is something so nostalgic and beautiful about the analog sound that comes from a record. Plus there is the joy from simply using a record player: Pulling the record from the album sleeve. Setting the player speed to the correct setting. Aligning the needle at the edge of the record, or beginning of a particular song. The click when the turntable starts to rotate. Listen to records.
#92 – don’t tailgate
Tailgating wastes gas, because you are constantly having to hit the brakes, and then step on the gas pedal to get moving again. If you back off a bit, you will need to brake less, and can coast more.
Tailgating also puts you at higher risk of rear-ending another car, and if that happens, your car insurance could skyrocket. Just don’t do it. Don’t tailgate.
#91 – do something unexpected
Are you a city kid? Go for a hike in the woods. More comfortable in the country? Visit a nightclub in a city. Quiet introvert? Try standup. Life of the party? Learn to embroider. Exposing yourself to new and unexpected experiences will enrich your life, and you may discover a new passion.
#90 – try a balance board
Strengthen your core, and increase your balance by learning to balance on a balance board. It will seem impossible at first, but over time you will get better and better. Make sure you do it in a safe place, so if you lose your balance, you do not get hurt.
#89 – visit a quirky museum
We’ve all seen or heard about small, local museums dedicated to a specific topic. They can be about local history, a particular product, or type of art. Even the history of a business or location. Visit these museums. The Shell Museum. The SPAM Museum. The World’s Smallest Art Museum. You’ll get more out of the experience than you ever thought possible.
#88 – eat apples
You can eat them raw or cooked. Make homemade applesauce. Make apple strudel. Make apple crisp. Or have cinnamon baked apples on ice cream. Eat them sliced with caramel or peanut butter. Buy an apple peeler-corer-slicer. Watching the apple spin while a spiral of peel emerges brings fun and joy to processing the apples.
