Bring a bottle of wine. A six pack of beer. A fun coffee table book. A dessert or appetizer. A classy serving dish. A quality deck of cards. A classic board game. Your hosts are nice enough to have you in their home. Be gracious.

#56 – drink Thai iced coffee
Start with a shot of espresso. Mix with a spoonful of sweetened condensed milk until it is smooth. Pour over ice. For fun, drink with a straw. Mmmm…
#55 – go to the circus
Whether it’s a fancy French circus, or small traveling side show, it is so much fun to relive your childhood and marvel at the colorful costumes and amazing feats!
#54 – get LASIK
If you wear glasses or contacts and are a candidate for LASIK (or similar eye surgery)–and can afford it(!)–you should know that having it done, and being able to see, is mind blowing. So worth it not to worry about (or have to deal with) losing or destroying a contact lens, or breaking or losing your glasses ever again. Just think of all of the room you will save in your carry-on liquids quart-sized bag not having to bring contact lens solution when you travel! Mind. Blowing. (In a good way.)
#53 – go camping
Pack a tent, sleeping bag, and a cooler that includes marshmallows for roasting. Go for hikes during the day. Tell stories around the campfire at night. Grill steak & veggie kebabs if car camping. Bring a hammock and book if you are in the woods. Don’t forget the bug spray!
#52 – have empathy
Be empathetic and compassionate to others. Even when it is hard, it is often helpful to put yourself in someone else’s shoes to better understand where he/she is coming from. Everyone’s path through life is unique.
#51 – save your tax refund
If you are getting a tax refund from filing your income taxes, instead of spending it right away, invest it! If you put it in a low fee index fund, your money could double (or more!) in 10 years. Not retiring for 30 years? It could grow to be 7-8X the original value by the time you retire. As those ads say: feed the pig!
#50 – be spontaneous
Even if it’s a weeknight and you are tired. Or it’s the weekend and you are tired. Tired is not an excuse not to go out. Work the next day is not an excuse not to go out. If your friend invites you out, or if your significant other proposes an idea for fun, say yes. Be spontaneous, and in retrospect you will be so happy you did.
#49 – take a bubble bath
Indulge in a hot, sudsy, bubble bath. Lean back. Relax. Listen to music or a podcast. Read a book. Wrap up in a big towel or bathrobe when you get out.
#48 – use a crockpot
Crockpots can be used to make anything from stew to curry, pulled pork to apple crisp. Everyone should have a crockpot in their kitchen.
